So, back in January I entered this writing contest?

Well, I just popped by the site again today, and the winners have been published!

No, I’m not among them. However, I did qualify for an Honorable Mention, which frankly I’m quite delighted by, seeing as this is the first piece of my writing I’ve ever submitted anywhere, and the field was 85 entries strong:

“The Elyse Phylarius Lecture on Practical Diplomacy,” Alistair Young, Wichita, KS

A fine and funny monologue with a consistent and convincing tone. At times detail overwhelms the speaker’s intention.
